Monica Shepherd- I knew he was coming. The exhibit was the same. He was weeks early to see anything new. Yet, he wandered and stopped at several of the pieces he'd gotten familiar with. This time though he sat in the median and continued to watched on from a distance. He even snapped a picture or two, which was only allowed to be done in the staleness of the exhibit. It's the time period after we'd given priority to media, and it was clearly noted. There were all kinds of things people didn't do at museum and galleries that they now did, so I kept proper representation in the wings.
It was his longest visit of them all. It was the ability to park and see as you choose, rather than the whimsy and mischief of people watching. From my usual spot, I took in all the movement in the gallery, and continued to study the wave of seekers.
I didn't actually have a bunch to tell about the Dunbars, like who the leaders were but I'd researched famous Dunbars, and I had a few leads. It wasn't a theoretical search; there were all kinds of inclinations and feedback, and I'd leaned into them all.
Mainly, I'd learned about a Dorsey Dunbar and what he'd done with his slaves. It wasn't a prejudice, but I thought it was the clearest lead. Still, it was hard to tell if he'd come to be alone with his thoughts, or if he'd had more questions. Then, suddenly he was gone, and it didn't appear to be a hurried thought.

Radiance- The idea is to release the second song while the first is still in conversation, not to make multiple conversations. This means timing is the bridge. The monkey wrench wasn't a part of my comeback. It was an equally effective bridge, however equal and apart. It was a simple tactic of being first to make a case.
I needed to say, it's my business acumen not my name that has sustained my success. This was certainly true now even if it wasn't true then, and I still had my mildly successful debut to prove it. It proved that it wasn't a debutante's or socialite response, but hard-won.
I also needed to show that the name wasn't immaterial, but had been interwoven and properly used to uphold my evolution and disposition in the industry. It was a delicate and nimble legal response to the fact that I'd ignorantly employed the name Dunbar as a new artist without any permission or foresight.
Surely, I'd done my best work to ward off Jeff's research, but I had no plans on giving up any territory or relinquishing the name. That meant I needed to see far and quickly. To put it ever so gently, I needed to grow up into the Dunbar I'd signed up to be.
